So there’s this indie game out there, a hardcore mashup of Megaman, Metroid, Castlevania and aRgH that’s known as I Wanna Be The Guy. The rules: You die in one hit, but you get unlimited lives, save points, and the freedom to explore the entire labyrinth. It breaks more copyright laws than Napster, but it’s an amusing source of speed runs, provided that you lack the intestinal fortitude to beat this game.Thanks to Nicholas Eckert aka Vidstudent for the link.
The other game video I’d like to highlight today is Bionic Commando: Rearmed.
… Just watch the movie, okay? *_*

I Wanna Be The Guy is such a challenging game that for a platformer from Hell, it took me 3 months to finally reach the final boss. I will say that many people will play this game but after the first stage, a bulk will just run away crying to the insanity of having a room of nothing but spikes.

Well, I don’t think we’re going to see another Cave Story for quite some time, but it’s fun to see indie games like this for the hell of it. Actually, I might show a Cave Story speedrun through Hell or maybe just a mashup of the game itself.

hey what’s the song during the zangief boss fight?? sounds familiar…

It’s the Super Metroid boss theme. The fight is a parody of Kraid’s battle in Brinstar :V

I try to stay away from games that are ’super hard’ just for the sake of being frustrating. IWBTG looks worth playing through just for humor factor. (I LOLed at the giant Zangief-Kraid fight)
I do admire the guy’s mad skill in programming the entire thing.
On the other hand, Cave story is a true masterpiece. I heard rumor it was up for official port-status to psp.

I wanna be the Guy is kind of insane. o.o
I mean, Zangief was an obvious Kraid rip, but. If I didn’t see the spikes at the beginning, maybe I’d care more about figuring it out. Seeing how much intentional BS it is, kind of discourages me. ^_^;
